Paul Kalkbrenner Announces New Album ‘The Essence’, Out October 10th
Techno legend Paul Kalkbrenner is officially back. The Berlin-based artist has announced ‘The Essence’, his first studio album since 2018’s Parts of Life. The new LP will be released on October 10th, 2025 via Sony Music, and is now available for pre-order.
The first single, ‘Ninety – Two’, is already making waves across streaming platforms. Featuring a vocal sample “pulled straight from the collective rave memory”, the track has been described as “a piece of scene history in a new context”. It blends Kalkbrenner’s signature cinematic sound with a nostalgic yet forward-looking energy.
“It’s about the essential,” Kalkbrenner explains. “This is an album I can truly stand behind. I consider it my best. Sure, there may be more well-known hits on my other albums, but there were always two or three filler tracks. This one doesn’t have a single filler. Not even a filler moment!”
You can stream ‘Ninety – Two’ now on platforms like Apple Music, or pre-order the full album directly via this link.
What to Expect from ‘The Essence’
Known for classics like Sky and Sand and Aaron, Paul Kalkbrenner’s influence on the global techno and electronic scene is undeniable. The Essence promises a refined sound, free of filler, crafted after years of experimentation and reflection. For fans of melodic techno, cinematic builds, and emotional rave soundscapes, this is one of the most anticipated releases of 2025.
A Quick Look Back
While Kalkbrenner hasn’t released a full album in over six years, he hasn’t been silent. In 2023, he dropped the track Schwer, and in 2021 he delivered Si Soy Feugo, keeping his sound alive in clubs and festivals around the world.
With The Essence, Kalkbrenner is set to reassert his position as a cornerstone of European techno.
