Lana Del Rey Could Finally Land Her James Bond Moment with “007: First Light”

Lana Del Rey might finally get her long-awaited James Bond theme moment — not on the big screen, but in a new video game adaptation.

According to a recent Rolling Stone report, fans have uncovered what looks like solid evidence that the American singer-songwriter is set to perform the theme song for the upcoming 007 video game “First Light,” due for release on March 27, 2026.

A Hidden Clue in ASCAP Filings

Members of the Lana Del Rey subreddit and fans on social media spotted a new ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) filing credited to Elizabeth Grant, Del Rey’s real name. The entry lists a track titled “First Light” — identical to the name of IO Interactive’s upcoming Bond game.

While neither IO Interactive nor Del Rey’s team has confirmed the news, the coincidence has sparked excitement across the fandom. For many, this could be the long-overdue moment when the artist’s cinematic style finally meets the Bond universe.

A Second Chance After ‘Spectre’

The news follows Del Rey’s revelation that she was previously rejected for the 2015 James Bond film Spectre. Her song “24,” featured on her Honeymoon album, was originally written for the movie but ultimately passed over in favor of Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall.”

Speaking backstage at the Ivor Novello Awards in May 2024, where she was honored for her songwriting, Del Rey confirmed the story. When asked about composing a Bond theme, she sang the chorus to “24” and simply said:

“I wrote that for them.”

The 2024 interview confirmed what many fans had long suspected — that “24” was meant as Spectre’s theme (the 24th film in the Bond series).

A Perfect Match of Style and Legacy

Known for her lush orchestral arrangements and noir-romantic lyrics, Del Rey’s cinematic sound has often been compared to classic Bond themes. If confirmed, her involvement in 007: First Light could mark a long-awaited creative pairing — and possibly one of the most memorable Bond soundtracks in years.

Until an official announcement is made, fans will have to wait and see if Lana Del Rey finally gets her Bond debut — this time, in pixels rather than film reels.
