Everything we’ve seen so far from Vince Gilligan’s (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) new series has been drenched in mystery — and the latest trailer only deepens the intrigue.
Apple TV has finally released the first full trailer for Pluribus, giving us a clearer look at its eerie, utopian-gone-wrong world where everyone is unnervingly happy—except one woman, Carol Sturka (played by Better Call Saul alum Rhea Seehorn).
A World Gone “Perfect” — Except for One
In the new footage, humanity seems to have been overtaken by some inexplicable force that has made every person on Earth endlessly cheerful. Streets are filled with smiling, almost zombified citizens, while Carol alone remains terrified and confused.
As she struggles to understand what’s happened, she becomes the focus of society’s collective obsession: everyone wants her to “join” them — to become as blissfully happy as the rest, no matter the cost.
The Calm After the Catastrophe
The trailer hints that the world’s new “happiness” may have followed some kind of mass disaster. We see chaotic glimpses of burning cities, overturned vehicles, and ambulances racing through smoke-filled streets — before these horrors are eerily “cleaned up” by mobs of smiling people, restoring order with mechanical joy.
Each time Carol appears in public, the crowd’s attention instantly turns toward her — their frozen grins never breaking.
Gilligan’s Signature Tone Returns
With Pluribus, Gilligan seems to be exploring psychological horror and dystopian satire, blending the grounded realism of Breaking Bad with a sci-fi-tinged mystery that feels closer to The Twilight Zone or Black Mirror. Even after the trailer, we still know almost nothing, and that’s exactly what makes it so compelling.
Release Date
Pluribus will debut on Apple TV+ on November 7, launching with a two-episode premiere before continuing weekly.
If this trailer is any indication, Vince Gilligan is about to deliver another deeply unsettling masterpiece — one smile at a time.
