Fleetwood Mac fans are in a frenzy after Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and Mick Fleetwood posted a series of cryptic social media messages that appear to hint at a possible reunion — or at least a new collaboration between key members of the legendary band.
On Thursday, July 17, Nicks posted a handwritten lyric to X (formerly Twitter):
“And if you go forward…”
Just 30 minutes later, Lindsey Buckingham posted his own handwritten message:
“I’ll meet you there.”
The two lines together form a lyric from “Frozen Love”, a track from Buckingham Nicks, the duo’s only studio album together, released in 1973 — just one year before they both joined Fleetwood Mac.
🥁 Mick Fleetwood Adds Fuel to the Fire
The previous day, Mick Fleetwood, the band’s drummer and co-founder, had already stirred excitement by sharing a video on Instagram of himself listening to Frozen Love.
“It’s all in the song… It’s in the music that played on for so many years. It’s magic then, magic now. What a thrill,” he said.
The coordinated timing of the three posts has reignited hope among fans, who believe this could be a symbolic call-and-response and a signal that Nicks and Buckingham — who have had a famously rocky relationship — may be reconnecting musically.
💔 A Complicated History
Nicks and Buckingham were romantically involved before joining the band in the mid-70s, but their relationship ended during the recording of Rumours (1977), one of the group’s most iconic albums. Their breakup famously inspired “Dreams” by Nicks and “Go Your Own Way” by Buckingham.
Fleetwood Mac last toured in 2019, but without Buckingham, who was fired in 2018. In 2022, the band suffered another major blow with the death of Christine McVie, longtime keyboardist and vocalist.
🚫 A Full Reunion? Maybe Not
Despite the emotional momentum from the cryptic posts, fans hoping for a full Fleetwood Mac reunion may be disappointed.
In an interview with Mojo magazine last year, Stevie Nicks made it clear she believed the band couldn’t exist without McVie:
“Without Christine, no can do. There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”
💬 Fans React
The posts still struck a chord online, with many fans overwhelmed with emotion. One user commented:
“A reunion album between you would make my entire life. I don’t think anyone could understand how much this simple tweet means to me.”
The sentiment was echoed across platforms, showing just how deeply the band’s music continues to resonate.
🧭 So… What Happens Now?
While a full-band comeback seems unlikely, a collaboration between Nicks, Buckingham, and Fleetwood — whether for a one-off project, performance, or even a tribute — no longer feels out of the question.
As Mick Fleetwood put it:
“It was magic then. It’s magic now.”
And maybe, just maybe — it could be magic once again.
