A Night of Horror Outside The Vermont
In the early hours of Saturday, July 19th, chaos erupted outside The Vermont, a popular East Hollywood music venue, when a vehicle intentionally drove into a crowd. According to LAPD Captain Ben Fernandes, the suspect—identified as Fernando Ramirez—had been removed from the club by security shortly before the attack.
Ramirez returned behind the wheel of a grey Nissan Versa, crashing into a valet stand and a taco stand before being forcefully removed from the vehicle. He was then shot by a bystander, after being beaten and handcuffed by others on the scene. The suspect survived and is in stable condition; however, 30 people were injured, seven of them critically. The alleged shooter fled and has not yet been identified.
The Vermont issued a heartfelt Instagram statement:
“We’re deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred early Saturday morning outside our venue. Our thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.”
The incident highlights the ongoing conversation around nightclub security, gun violence, and crowd safety in America’s nightlife scene. The investigation is still ongoing, and community members are demanding stronger protective measures for patrons of late-night venues
